REMEBERING...

Gilbert Verdon Heaton
November 1st, 1927-April 13th, 2008

This morning my Grandpa Heaton passed away. Today I have felt such gratitude for the person that he was. As all the family was reflecting today my thoughts turned to his cute little smile and funny sense of humor. He was a true cowboy from his boots to his hat!!! I can't help but think of what a great example he left for all of his posterity to follow. As one of his granddaughters I saw firsthand the love he gave to all of us.
One of my favorite memories was when I was out at the ranch visiting him. It was just the 2 of us there and I was pretty bored. He said he'd be right back and I just sat in front of the lodge moping. Here he comes riding up on a white horse to take me for a ride.
Although a simple man, the treasures he had came from his heart...LOVE!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandpa. He looks like a great guy- you are lucky to have such wonderful pictures of him.

Jarom said you guys stopped by tonight- I wish I would have been home (then the house wouldn't have been so dark!) ;-) Are you going to be around this weekend? It would be fun to get together.

I am glad your first day back to work went well. I am sure it was hard, but what a wonderful welcome back you got. I know you are the best teacher ever!

Sorry, you probably don't know me, but I worked with Addie out at the Ranch and I loved uncle Verdon. He was the sweetest guy ever. I'll never forget his jerky, cowboy coffee, and telling me that if he was younger he would have rode up to my place and hitched his horse to my front porch. What a remarkable person. The Bar 10 won't be the same without him there to hold down the fort and keep everything going. He will be sorely missed, especially by this bar 10 babe.
